When you enable certain options on this step, more detailed settings will be available in later steps of the Instant Protection PLUS 3 wizard.
Start my application as a trial: Your application will automatically start with trial functionality and have an "Evaluate" option listed on the license dialog screen. This will allow your application to run for a specified number of days and/or executions, which is set later in this wizard. Using the Instant Protection PLUS 3 API, you can also enable/disable certain functionality in your application while it is running as a trial. Trial applications can be activated into full applications if you enable one of the activation options below.
Lock my Application to the PC it is activated on: Provides copy protection by only allowing the activated application to run on the computer it was activated on. If a user copies the application to a new computer, it will prompt for a new activation.
Users may activate my application online with SOLO Server: Available if you are currently using SOLO Server and want to allow online activations.
Users may activate my application from another computer: Available if you are currently using SOLO Server and want to allow users to use a file transfer based activation mechanism. This allows a user to activate your application on a computer without Internet access by using another computer with Internet access.
Users may activate my application by phone, fax, or email: This manual activation option allows users without an Internet connection to activate a computer by phone or email. This does not require SOLO Server. With SOLO Server, the customer can activate using a web browser on another computer.
The offline/manual activation process should only be enabled if your customers will not be able to activate online or activation online through another computer.
Users may register their customer information: Available if you are using SOLO Server and would like your users to register their contact information with SOLO Sever once the protected application is activated.
Display a splash screen at startup: You will have the option to use your own custom splash screen or a default splash screen created by Instant Protection PLUS 3. A splash screen is required if you are going to choose either of the two options below.
Query SOLO Server to periodically validate the license status: This option ensures that a license has a valid status in SOLO Server. It is required to remotely deactivate a license.
Query SOLO Serverto periodically check for new versions of my application: Checks for an update notification that is configured in SOLO Server. Note: Automatic downloads are currently not supported when protecting a DLL. Any update notifications should include a link to the download.
