SOLO Server Overview

SOLO Server is power packed with features including Electronic License Managementtm (ELM) which allows you and your customers to activate and manage their software 24 hours a day while you maintain control. ELM is the must-have luxury feature for software companies who want to automate their online software business, both with or without integrated e-commerce. SOLO Server is not required by Instant Protection PLUS 3), and is available as a service (SaaS) and as an on-premise solution. Learn more today, and check out the most popular features!

Using SOLO Server

Logging into SOLO Server

  1. Go to SoftwareKey.com and use the menu LOGIN / Manage SOLO Server Account or use this link. If you have a SOLO Server Automation account that is not using secure.softwarekey.com, please use the URL for your instance of SOLO Server.
  2. Login with the credentials to your account. If you don't have an account, use the following credentials to access our generic Test Author account:

This Test Author account is the same as Use Test Author Account Credentials option from the SOLO Server Product List step.

Going live

If you have already tried Instant Protection PLUS 3 without your ownSOLO Server account, sign up for a SOLO Server account here. This is necessary to allow your software to be activated online and to use the optional e-commerce features.

Once your account is configured, you are ready to sign-in to SOLO Server, configure your products and synchronize with the Instant Protection PLUS 3 wizard, and finally request account activation to start licensing your application to your own customers!

Advantages of online activations vs. manual activations

SOLO Server allows your customers to activate online with a License ID and Password. Without SOLO Server, you and your customer must manually exchange activation codes by phone/email/text to complete the activation process. Online activations also allow you to use other features through SOLO Server, such as allowing deactivations or reactivations on the same computer. More information can be found by viewing the Activation / Deactivation Features with Installation ID webinar.

If the customer has a License ID and Password, but does not have Internet connectivity, you can use SOLO Server to process the manual activation instead of using Instant Protection PLUS 3.

Server Settings

When using SOLO Server Shared URL (secure.softwarekey.com), the server settings do not need to be changed from their default values. These settings are applied to your software when you wrap an application or generate an XML file when using the DLL interface.

Important

When using SOLO Server Shared / Custom URL, SOLO Server Dedicated URL or SOLO Server Self-Hosted, you will need to change these setting to match your instance of SOLO Server. In most cases, this will simply involve updating the "secure.softwarekey.com" to your address for the SOLO Server and Lost License fields.

Note that a SOLO Server Self-Hosted instance may not be using the same folder structure.

To access these settings, open Instant Protection PLUS 3 and use the menu Tools / Options, and then click the Server Settings tab.

You can reset everything to these default values by pressing the Set Defaults button.
