SOLO Server System Requirements
SOLO Server Shared/Custom URL & Dedicated URL (SaaS)
Because SOLO Server Shared/Custom URL and SOLO Server Dedicated URL are managed (SaaS) services, the only system requirement is a web browser to access the administration portal.
- Current versions of most popular browsers are supported.
- All customer-facing browser interfaces and database tables are designed around Latin-1 (ISO 8859-1) character encoding.
SOLO Server Self-Hosted
Self-hosting SOLO Server has the following requirements:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, or 2016
- Microsoft SQL Server/SQL Server Express 2012, 2014, 2016, or 2017
- Commercial SSL Certificate for HTTPS (secure) connections
- 200MB hard drive space
- SMTP server
- .NET Framework 4.6.1
- US English Regional Settings

SOLO Server Integrated eCommerce Requirements

To use the available integrated eCommerce functionality, you will need a merchant account and compatible payment gateway. A credit card payment gateway is a service which links the SOLO Server shopping cart to a merchant bank network to handle the commerce transfer. There are hundreds of credit card payment gateways ranging from swipe point of sale (POS) terminals to Internet-based services. SOLO Server uses a payment gateway to bill customers and issue refunds. Your brochure website can advertise your software and link to the SOLO Server shopping cart, which will then take care of the rest.
SOLO Server currently supports the following online payment gateways:
PayPal Payments Standard
PayPal Payments Pro
PayPal PayFlow Pro
Note that Dibs Debitech Web, PayPal Payments Standard, and RBS Worldpay are not compatible with payment plans (automatic recurring billing for subscriptions).
Third Party eCommerce Requirements
While the SOLO Server integrated eCommerce option is a great system for the demands of many software publishers, it is not the only eCommerce option for SOLO Server. It is possible to bulk-generate software licenses to upload into an eCommerce system and there are also web service endpoints to perform more direct integrations with other systems. SOLO Server still provides all the benefits of Electronic License Activation and Management, while the eCommerce functionality is provided by the third party solution.
Advanced, automated integration between SOLO Server and FastSpring eCommerce is now supported. While integration with many other shopping carts is possible, we chose the full integration with FastSpring due to their service popularity and customer demand. Read more about the integration.
